From the moment you land at Entebbe’s modern and efficient international airport, with its breathtaking equatorial Location on the forested shore of island-strewn Lake Victoria, it is clear that Uganda is no ordinary safari destination.

Ecologically, Uganda is where the East African savannah meets the West African jungle. Where else but in this impossibly lush country can one observe lions prowling the open plains in the morning and track chimpanzees through the rain forest undergrowth the same afternoon, then the next day navigate tropical channels teeming with hippo and crocs before setting off into the misty mountains to stare deep into the eyes of a mountain gorilla?

Name: The Republic of Uganda. It borders Kenya to the East, Tanzania and Rwanda to the South, Democratic Republic of Congo to the West and Sudan to the North.

Location: Uganda is a landlocked republic in Equatorial Africa and topography is plateau with rim of mountains.

Capital: Kampala.

Time: +3 GMT.

Size: 238,461 km². Slightly smaller than Oregon.

Population: Around 32 million.

Currency: The unit of currency is the Ugandan Shilling in both coin and paper denominations.

Climate:
Tropical. Uganda experiences rainy seasons between September to November & March to May. Dry months are December to February & June to August). The country can be visited throughout the year. 1,500 mm/60 inches annual rainfall on the shores of Lake Victoria and in the Ruwenzori Mountains. Average daytime temperatures 24 to 28 Celsius 75 to 82 Fahrenheit.

Uganda has a typically tropical climate with little variation in temperature throughout the year. Distinctive wet and dry seasons characterize the climate of most of the country, except in the semi-arid north east. The dry season, generally from December to February and mid-June to mid-August, is the best time to visit. The two rainy seasons are from March to May, and September to November. In the south the rainiest month is April. The mountainous areas in western and eastern Uganda can be cold at night.
