Safari to Serengeti – Tanzania Tour Itinerary
Day 1. Depart USA for Tanzania
Thursdays and Mondays
The adventure begins! Fly to Africa.
Day 2. Arrive Kilimanjaro, Tanzania
Met upon arrival by a Great Safaris representative and transferred for overnight & dinner in Arusha (1 night)
Day 3. Lake Manyara (1 night)
Join our safari vehicle and depart Arusha. Pass through the Maasai Steppe filled with many picturesque African villages as well as maize, coffee and banana plantations. At the town of Makuyuni you turn north west and continue the journey up through a scenic escarpment that brings you to your lodge, perched on the edge of the Rift Valley with stunning views over the distant Lake Manyara. You arrive at the lodge in the late afternoon in time to freshen up before dinner.
Day 4. Serengeti National Park (2 nights)
After breakfast there is a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Return to the lodge for lunch. Leaving Lake Manyara behind, the journey continues northwest across the stunning hilly countryside of the highlands, which is filled with wheat and coffee plantations, and then into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. From here lie the vast plains of the Serengeti, where you’ll hopefully start spotting game well before you get into the park. You arrive at the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 5. Serengeti National Park
Morning and afternoon game drives in Serengeti National Park. All meals are served at the lodge, however; at the driver/guides’ discretion, a picnic lunch may be taken to maximize game viewing.
Day 6. Ngorongoro Crater (2 nights)
After breakfast you depart for Ngorongoro viewing game en-route across the vast Serengeti plains as you go. After a picnic lunch you continue to your lodge, set high on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater. You will have time to freshen up before enjoying a delicious dinner, followed by a well-deserved night’s rest.
Day 7. Ngorongoro Crater
A highlight awaits you this morning as you depart to explore what is commonly referred to as the world’s largest wildlife zoo. After breakfast, you’ll descend through the early morning mist and 2,000 feet into the crater. Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Due to its size and diversity, the crater floor is comprised of several distinct areas, ranging from forest, swamps, lakes and springs, to open grassland and some sandy dunes. With more than 30,000 resident animals, it is an awe-inspiring wildlife experience. You return to the lodge for a late lunch and then have the afternoon at leisure. Dinner at the lodge.
Day 8. Tarangire National Park (1 night)
Departing Ngorongoro Crater after breakfast you continue to Tarangire National Park. You drive through the highlands and the Karatu district, viewing the scenic wheat plains and coffee plantations here before journeying down the spectacular escarpment where you turn south onto the main Arusha – Dodoma Road and into the park. From here to the lodge, you’ll enjoy a game drive en route to your lodge. After lunch and perhaps a swim, the remainder of the afternoon will be spent on a game drive. Dinner at the lodge.
Day 9. Depart Arusha
Depart after breakfast and head north east to Arusha. On return to Arusha where our safari terminates or with a transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport JRO.
Day 10. Arrive USA

Safari to Serengeti – Tanzania Scheduled weekly departures from arrival Kilimanjaro on Fridays & Sundays for 8 days / 7 nights Features all of the popular northern Tanzania game parks, travels in custom designed 4×4 safari vehicles with driver/guide and open roofs for game viewing. This is a small group seat-in-vehicle safari with a maximum of 7 travelers, all with window seats. Safari includes meals, accommodation, park entry fees with visits to Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Lake Manyara and Tarangire.
