The Zambezi is Africa’s fourth largest river system after the Nile, Zaire and Niger Rivers. It runs through six countries on its journey from central Africa to the Indian Ocean. Its power has carved the spectacular Victoria Falls and the zigzagging Batoka Gorge. Between the 2 great dams of the Zambezi, Kariba and Carbora Bassa, lies an area known as the Zambezi Valley. Acacia-chocked, reed fringed islands braid the river into twisting channels, often blocked by snorting hippo, wildlife and bird life. The Valley’s beauty has attracted tourists from all over the world and provides great opportunities for unprecedented game viewing and walking safaris.
